The Atelier
I am Annaëlle Emery, founder of L’Héritière des Belles Ombres, an atelier dedicated to the creation and restoration of antique lighting based in Pau.
I design each piece with an artisanal approach, where light, materials, and proportions converse with the history of the objects.

My
story
A JOURNEY GUIDED BY MATERIALS
After studying science, I quickly moved away from a world that was too automated, where the role of human touch and sensitivity was scarce.
Drawn to creative professions and objects with history, I subsequently trained in interior design.
This experience strengthened a deep conviction: the most vibrant interiors are those that preserve and reinterpret the objects that have passed through them.

THE VALUE OF ANTIQUE OBJECTS
I grew up surrounded by antique furniture and objects that have endured the years and countless moves without losing their character or splendor.
Solid wood, leather, copper, brass: these materials tell a story and reflect lasting craftsmanship.
To me, preserving these objects and giving them a new life is much more than work — it is a way of continuing their story.
THE WORK OF THE ATELIER
In my atelier, each lighting piece is approached with patience and care.
Antique structures are observed, proportions are studied, and materials are carefully chosen to preserve the balance and character of the piece.
Objects from the past have lived stories we will never know—and can only imagine.
They have passed through places, lives, and eras.
The work of the atelier is to respect this memory while giving these pieces a renewed luminous presence.
For objects created with love for material and craftsmanship carry a value far different from those made solely for speed and mass production.

Some lamps have already illuminated multiple lives.
The work of the atelier is simply to allow them to light up others.
